Jellicoe trained as an architect, and took an architect’s eye to the field that he to a certain extent dominated in Britain in his era, landscape architecture. He had a feel for historical gardens, publishing Italian Gardens of the Renaissance and Austrian Baroque Gardens among other volumes, and was commissioned in turn to create or recreate significant gardens including the Kennedy Memorial Garden at Runnymede.
