W W Jacobs
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Wapping, London
Born on 8th of September 1863

Jacobs spent 20 years working for the Civil Service and Post Office before his parallel writing career (it began with his first published story in 1885) was lucrative and established enough to allow him to leave. He wrote for magazines like Punch and The Idler, and published many humorous tales, but is best remembered for the unforgettably macabre story The Monkey’s Paw.
