CJ Cutcliffe Hyne was the author of the Captain Kettle series of books and magazine stories that enjoyed wide popularity for half a century and more after they first appeared in 1897. Hyne was an extremely prolific author, writing under two pseudonyms as well as his own name, the majority of his works being in fiction, though he also published his autobiography and various travel books. His most famous story outside the Kettle series is The Lost Continent: The Story of Atlantis.
