Robert Hooke

Died on 3rd of March 1703
Born 1635. Died 1703 - English experimental philosopher and architect.
Educated at Christ Church, Oxford. In 1665 published Micrographia, an account of his investigations in botany, chemistry and other branches of science. One of most brilliant scientists of his day. Discovered the relationship between stress and strain of elastic bodies known as Hooke’s law. After Great Fire of London appointed City Surveyor, designed Bethlehem Hospital and Montague House.
