Born 1923 - Actor, radio and television presenter.

Studied engineering at the University of Glasgow. Became well known on television during the 1950s as the straight man to comedian Arthur Haynes and as a regular on The Benny Hill Show (1969–1974). Became famous for the game show Sale of the Century. Host of the radio panel game Just A Minute. Guest presenter on the BBC news quiz Have I Got News for You? Awarded an OBE in 2004.
