Born 1720. Died 1778 - English inventor.

Worked as a weaver and carpenter. Invented the spinning-jenny in 1864, destroyed by his fellow workers as a threat to their livelihood. Moved to Nottingham where he built a spinning mill. Took out a patent for his invention but it was invalid as the invention had already been disclosed.
