Born 1847. Died 1885 - English missionary.

Studied at St Mary’s Hall, Oxford. Went to Uganda with the Church Missionary Society, forced to return due to ill health. Ordained bishop of Eastern Equatorial Africa and travelled out to Uganda again in 1885. Murdered by King Mwanga becoming one of the first Martyrs of Uganda. Hannington's feast day in the Church of England is October 29.
