Known as Glubb Pasha. First organiser of the police force in the new state of Iraq in 1920. Best known for leading and training Transjordan's Arab Legion (1939-1956) as its commanding general. Published a number of works including The Story of the Arab Legion (1948) and A Soldier with the Arabs (1957).
