Born 1649. Died 1705 – English conspirator.
Took Anglican orders but was dismissed for misconduct. Considered a hero for telling a magistrate of a Catholic plot to massacre Protestants and assassinate Charles II, his evidence led to 35 judicial deaths. In 1683 fined £100,000 and imprisoned for calling the Duke of York a traitor. In 1685 found guilty of perjury and again imprisoned, set free in the Revolution of 1688.
