Made his goalkeeping debut for Chelsea at the age of 18. Part of the Chelsea’s impressive cup runs in the late 60s, winning the FA Cup, League Cup and Cup Winners' Cup. Nicknamed The Cat, he played for Chelsea 729 times between 1959 and 1979 and once managed to keep 21 clean sheets in a single season.
