Born 1630. Died 1687 - English writer.

Father was a wealthy landowner with many literary connections. In 1664 he published a burlesque titled Scarronicles, a popular work which ran into 14 editions. Spent a great deal of time fishing with Izaak Walton. Wrote the celebrated second part of Walton's 5th edition of The Compleat Angler. His later years were marred by financial difficulties. Buried in St James's Church, Piccadilly, London.
