Born 1933 - English cricketer and umpire.


He started playing cricket for Yorkshire (1956-59), then Leicestershire (1960-64) and by the end of his playing career had scored 3,314 runs. However, he is best remembered as an umpire (1970-98) through his sense of humour and eccentricities. He umpired a record 67 Test matches, 93 limited-overs internationals and the first three finals of the Cricket World Cup.
