Born 1930 - English jazz trombonist and bandleader.
A jazz trombonist and band-leader, he was a leading figure in the trad movement, taking over the Ken Colyer band in 1953. His successes include Rock Island Line (1956) and Petit Fleur (1959) which featured skiffle pioneer Lonnie Donegan and clarinettist Monty Sunshine. More recently he has worked with the New Orleans vocalist Dr John, and was awarded the OBE in 1991.
