Studied medicine at Cambridge. Invented a successful technique to produce platinum. Established business making platinum boilers, wire and other apparatus. Conducted experiments in physiology, pathology, pharmacology and botany. Wrote widely on atomic theory. Elected FRS in 1793. The mineral wollastonite was named after him.
