Born 1728. Died 1808 - English ironmaster and inventor.
Master of three furnaces. In 1774 invented a cannon-boring machine, more accurate than any previously used. Supplied James Watt and Matthew Boulton with hundreds of cylinders for steam engines. Installed a Watt engine in one of his furnaces.
