Grouville is a parish on the south eastern corner of Jersey. It boasts the magnificent sandy beaches of the Royal Bay of Grouville, which constitutes approximately half of the eastern coast of Jersey. The bay was granted its royal prefix after impressing Queen Victoria in 1846. One of the advantages of this beach is that, due to its size, it does not get as crowded as some of the other beaches on the island. Grouville is divided into four districts, De la Rue, La Rocque, Les Marais and Longueville. The parish also includes a group of rocky islands, The Minquiers, known locally as the 'Minkeys' and which extend up to 15 miles from the coast of Jersey. The beautifully picturesque harbour of Gorey is situated at the north east end of the bay, beneath the historic Mont Orgueil Castle. From here you can see the coast of France on a clear day. Grouville is about a fifteen minute drive from St Helier harbour and just over half an hour from Jersey International Airport. Accommodation choices on the island include the Old Court House Hotel at Gorey Village, the Beausite Hotel which overlooks the Royal Jersey Golf Course and Beachcombers Hotel, which offers bed and breakfast and is just a few minutes from the beach.
