Withypool is a pretty village positioned on the banks of the Barle River, in western Somerset set within the stunning Exmoor National Park. Attractive gently coloured lime washed cottages and houses line the narrow lanes and roads, which overlooks the Barle Valley and Withypool Common, and is home to just over two hundred people. The village dates far back into history, to the first Bronze Age Settlers who have left their mark on top of Withypool Hill where a circle of stones and ancient burial mounds close by may still be seen today, to impressive architecture which pleases the eye, with the Medieval church that is dedicated to St Andrew, the ancient bridge that spans the Barle River with it's five arches, and the welcoming 17th Century Inn where visitors can follow in the footsteps of Blackmore, who was inspired to write part of Lorna Doone whilst he stayed here. There's fishing on offer for budding anglers, a tea room, village shops for that every day essential, and an invitation to explore the stunning beauty of the surrounding moorland whether it's cycling, or on horseback, or discovering Mother Nature's treasures on rewarding walks as the Two Moors Way passes through the village
