Nunney is a picturesque village positioned close to the edge of the Mendip Hills, in the County of Somerset, and is home to just over nine hundred people. It's surrounded by beautiful countryside, and dates far back in time, with traces of a Roman Camp nearby. The Nunney Brook babbles through the centre of the village, and if visitors step over the footbridge the impressive 12th Century church that's dedicated to All Saints has stood the test of time with its Medieval Wall Painting. A stroll around the village will uncover pleasing architecture from Medieval wonders, Georgian elegance, and delightful cottages and houses lining the roads. There are a couple of shops for that essential purchase, and a fabulous 17th Century Coaching Inn to try. Opposite the ancient Inn stands the evocative ruins of Nunney Castle which was built in the 14th Century. The castle was built in the French style by a favoured Knight and is surrounded by a Moat; it saw Cromwell's Army fight a bloody battle here in the Civil War where they fired a cannon and breached the walls. There is a range of places to stay whether it's a cottage or B&B which will please walkers, and Artists drawn to this pretty location.
