Coxley is a tiny village that lies just a few miles from Wells on the A38 road to Glastonbury. Set in open countryside, Coxley provides easy access to a number of locations within Somerset. Just two miles to the north is the city of Wells, a charming small cathedral city dating back to Roman times. To the South West, the ancient town of Glastonbury is known for its history. Here you can visit Glastonbury Lake Village, Glastonbury Abbey and Glastonbury Tor. The area is also famous for the Glastonbury Festival which takes place in nearby Pilton every year. An old Motte and Baily castle known as Fenny Castle still stands not far from Coxley. You can also visit the Wookey Hole Caves, now a major tourist attraction in the area. For refreshment you can visit either of the two local pubs, The Coxley Vinyard Hotel or The Pound Inn. The Coxley Vinyard is a working winery, producing 6 to 800 bottles of wine a year from their own grapes. The hotel offers a little Mediterranean ambience in the heart of the Somerset countryside. As well as a bar and accommodation, the hotel also caters for weddings, functions and conferences.
