The small town of Aberaeron is much more than a stopping off point between Cardigan and Aberystwyth. It is said that some places feed both body and soul; Aberaeron is one of them. For peace and tranquility pause to take in the views from the picturesque harbour overlooked by pastel painted Georgian houses but it’s the gourmet who really has a treat in store. If you stay at one of the fine G & B’s (not a misprint - you are in bilingual Wales) such as the Arosfa , renowned as a past winner of the Best Welsh breakfast , you can start the day with the finest Welsh produce served by a genial host , resplendent in bow tie and apron. If not, you can feast at lunchtime on the (reputedly) best fish & chips in Wales as you envy the yachting fraternity making their way round the spectacular coastline. – watch out for seagulls though - they are also partial to chips! If you prefer an evening meal dine at the Harbourmaster’s boutique hotel but save room for honey ice-cream and if food loses its appeal, a trip to a nearby craft centre like Clos Pengarreg provides other aesthetic temptations.
