Pencoed is located midway between Cardiff and Swansea at junction 35 of the M4. Increasingly popular as a residential location, Pencoed is served by local rail services and is reasonably close to Cardiff (Wales) International Airport. Pencoed can be a base for accessing beautiful natural environments with the Welsh mountains to its north, the quaint villages of the Vale of Glamorgan to the south and the coast of the Bristol Channel is also easily reached. The town has two main rivers - Ewenny Fawr (large) And Ewenny Fach (little) and is shadowed to the west by the woodland ridge of Coed – y- Mwstwr. With this emphasis on nature it is no surprise that Pencoed has a thriving triathlon club and is home to the local Air Training Core. Slightly further away, are Bryn Garw House and County Park which host various events and the splendid Margam Park known for its lovely orangery. Accommodation can be found in hotels, guesthouses and the local Travelodge. This town has an industrial past but mining has now given way to light industry, call centres etc - many people are employed at the designer outlet centre at McArthur Glen – visit here for bargains.
