Llangennith is a small village set within the beautiful Gower Peninsular, in Southern Wales. The sprawling village nestles within the protection of three red sandstone hills which shows signs of Iron Age settlements, although the village developed in the 6th Century when St Cenydd founded a Priory here. The fabulous curving sandy bay is skirted by sand dunes, once haunted by smugglers and wreckers under the cover of darkness, today however surfers arrive in great numbers establishing Llangennith as the surfing capital of Gower, at the northern end of the bay is Burry Holms where the Medieval legacy of its monastery can still be seen although at high tide it becomes an island. The village has a wealth of whitewashed cottages and houses, and at the very heart stands a 17th Century Inn which continues to welcome its visitors, for those who wish to stay there is a wide choice of places, from cottages, caravans to campsite, and even a working farm. There are a few shops although the busy metropolis of Swansea is only sixteen miles or so away. It's surrounded by dramatic rural scenery with cliff top walks which reveal secluded bays and ancient caves, there is also an intriguing 12th Century church which is the largest in the Gower Peninsular..
