Dolfor is a quiet picturesque farming community set amidst rolling hills, the name Dolfor being highly appropriate as it translate into the English for “Big Meadow”. Located in Mid Wales about four and a half miles South of Newtown on the A483 Llandrindod Wells road this is a popular location for those who appreciate hill walking and Dolfor allows easy access to the Kerry Ridgeway. The Kerry Ridgweay enjoys the reputation of being the oldest road in Wales as it is a former drovers route that allowed them to drive their cattle to the markets in England. On the borders of Powys and Shropshire the Kerry Ridgeway never drops below a 1,000 feet and it is said that on a clear day you can enjoy some of the most panoramic views available, upto 70 miles distant. Today this walk is enjoyed by many ramblers throughout the year who come to enjoy this gentle walk through the Welsh Marches.
