An attractive town steeped in history you can take a "time walk" from Anglo Saxon times up to the present.
At Sutton just outside Woodbridge is the famous Saxon Hoo Burial site, which is now in the hands of the National Trust. It has an education centre, exhibition hall, restaurant and shop. You can visit the burial site and then return to the exhibition to see some of the artefacts found at the site.
There is a unique Tide Mill, which has been restored, with a model showing how the millpond was used to turn the wheels, which are, at certain times of the tide still turning. This must be one of most photographed sites in England. The river is ideal for yachting and the attractive riverside area boasts, restaurants, tea shop, art gallery and theatre, which features films and live entertainment The Suffolk Punch Heavy Horse museum is a unique attraction dedicated to the Suffolk breed of horse.
The Town's most famous resident, Thomas Seckford was Master of the Court of Requests at the Court of Queen Elizabeth I and his Foundation continues to enhance Woodbridge to this day with many of the fine buildings of Woodbridge commissioned by him. St Mary's Church is a 15th Century Church in the centre of the town, contains his tomb. Woodbridge also boasts a windmill, which is open to the public during the season, at weekends and Bank holidays.
