Rhu is a small coastal parish in the Argyll and Bute Region of Scotland situated 3 miles east of Helensburgh, 9 miles north-west of Alexandria in West Dumbartonshire and 8 miles north of Greenock in Inverclyde. Rhu is one of the main yachting centres on the Clyde Estuary and is well-known for its annual New Year swim in the River Clyde. The village is a popular tourist destination attracting out-doors enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists, sailors, golfers and sight-seers. The Marina sits to the east with and abundance of yachts and charter fleet, Rhu Bay is picturesque with views over the Clyde and Rhu Point, to the west, sits at the entrance to the Gareloch with views over the rolling Arrochar Hills. The village has an inn, post-office and village shop, a community centre and a tranquil village green sitting in front of the Parish Church. The village is ideally located for touring the many attractions of Western Scotland including the Glenarn, a private garden famous for Rhododendrons, close by is Helenburgh with excellent shopping, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants and the train station to catch the famous West Highland Railway to Fort William, Mallaig or Oban. The Loch Lomond National Park is a short drive away with Sea-plane trips, Maid-of-the-Loch Paddle Steamer trips, driving tours and the Loch Lomond Shores shopping centre and visitor attraction.
