Lennoxtown is a town in east Dunbartonshire in Scotland situated on the northern edge of the Glasgow boundary by the Glazert Waters, 3 miles north of Kirkintilloch. Formerly known as Newton of Campsie, Lennoxtown developed during the 18th century with the Lennox Corn Mill, cotton, calico printing, limestone and coal mining industries. Lennoxtown is the birthplace of the famous pop singer Lulu; it is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is a popular tourist destination perfect for walkers, anglers, golfers, nature-watchers and road cyclists with the challenging Crow Road. Lennoxtown has a choice of holiday accommodation, shops and amenities, restaurants and pubs. Historically interesting features include the Baronial Lennox Castle built c.1837-41 and the Church dating back to 1846. Attractions include the tranquil Campsie Glen, an 18-hole golf course and the Campsie Craft Village with exhibitions and coffee shop situated at the southern foothills of the Camsie Fells below the picturesque waterfalls. Lennoxtown is ideally located to visit the major attractions nearby including in the City of Glasgow, excellent shopping, restaurants, night clubs, cinemas and theatre shows and at Loch Lomond, Scotland’s largest inland Loch, there is the National Nature Reserve, boat-cruises and paddle steamer tours and the well-known Shore shopping complex.
