Ballindalloch is a town in Moray, in Aberdeenshire, in the north-east of Scotland, situated between Dufftown and Grantown-on-Spey, 29 miles north-east of Aviemore, Ballindalloch sits on the junction where the River Avon meets the River Spey in the heart of Speyside. Ballindalloch is home to world famous whiskey distilleries, producing famous whiskeys including Glenfiddich, Glenlivet and Glenfarclas. The area contains several Clava Cairns at Lagmore west and Marionburgh and St Peters Church contains Pictish symbol stones indicating the area was inhabited by ancient settlements. Ballindalloch Castle stands between the Rivers Spey and Avon, it is known as the ‘Pearl of the North’, regarded one of the most beautiful of all Scottish Castles. Ballindalloch Castle is a 16th century z-plan fortalice and a building of National Heritage interest, with a 17th century doocot and a rock garden laid out in 1937; it is open to visitors during the summer months. The Ballindalloch Estate is an area of farmland and woodland with sporting facilities including an 18-hole golf course. Ballindalloch is a picturesque town popular with tourists it has hotels and guesthouses and a variety of shops and amenities. The Rivers Spey and Avon offer fishing, there is an Equestrian Centre and distilleries with visitor centres offering guided tours.
