Corpach is a village in the Highlands of Scotland situated on the north shore of Loch Linnhe on the road to Loch Eil and Mallaig. Corpach is approximately a15 minute journey from Fort William. The rural village of Corpach has been in existence since c1600, cut-off until 1795 when the new road arrived and the settlement grew. The Caledonian Canal started construction in 1803 and reached Corpach at Loch Linnhe. In 1902 the railway arrived with a station at Corpach on the Fort William to Mallaig line. Corpach is a popular tourist resort abundant with guest houses, B&B’s, self catering and bunkhouses; Corpach is the quieter alternative to the busy resort at Fort William. The village has a variety of shops, a hotel, a restaurant and community centre and the Treasures of the Earth Museum; with information on geology and mineralogy. Corpach has picturesque scenery over Loch Linnhe and from the shoreline Corpach offers excellent views of Ben Nevis, UK’s highest mountain. Nearby attractions include visiting Ben Nevis by cable car, walking or climbing or the Ben Nevis Distillery and Visitor Centre. The Jacobite steam train (as seen in Harry Potter) has a round-trip from Fort William to Mallaig, and the remains of the medieval Inverlochty Castle lies north of Fort William.
