Latest reviews | Events in Seaford | 10 Places to Stay

A quiet seaside resort near the foot of The South Downs, no longer raided by French Pirates, has plenty to share. The long shingle beach is a great place for all things marine. The Martello Tower, built as a defence during Napoleonic times, offers both a museum, and a tower, with its collection of maritime and local treasures. Bishopstone, nearby, offers a Saxon Church surrounded by flint cottages and houses, with pretty gardens. Inside are the remnants of a painting that will impress visitors to the village. If the great outdoors beckons, The South Downs Way is satisfying to walk, cycle or explore on horseback. The view from Seaford Head over the Seven Sisters is one of the iconic views in Sussex. Cuckmere Haven, once the hideaway for 18th Century smugglers, offers a Nature Reserve and sea views on the edge of chalk cliffs. Alfriston is just a few miles up the Cuckmere River, with its jumble of historic buildings and village square. Towards the west along the beach, are Newhaven Fort and harbour.
