This Fascinating old town reaches with long fingers back into history with plenty of things to occupy everybody. Situated on the River Cuckmere, 18 miles from the haunting town of Hastings and only 55 miles from London. Hailsham’s traditional industry was chilling, as Rope making supplied Britain and the Colonies with ‘Hanging Rope’. Today however there is a treasure chest of pleasures waiting to be discovered such as the Pavilion this historic building encompasses a theatre and cinema with a difference, decorated and restored to it’s former glory from the golden days built in 1921 as a Picture Palace is definitely worth a visit. If museums take your pleasure then the Heritage Centre has interesting displays of Farming memorabilia, and photographic displays of local industry. For those of you who enjoy the great outdoors with beautiful scenery filling your senses, the views of the 'Cuckoo Trail' as you walk or cycle along will hit the spot . Or for an enjoyable day of fishing there is Hailsham Country Park. If shopping is a must there’s Quintins Shopping Centre or a few miles away the pretty Marina at Eastbourne home to many shops. Bars, restaurants and of course the sea.
