Gamlingay is an ancient village that rests on the borders of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire home to 3500 villagers which is more than in Saxon times. The village has many attractive buildings with the 13th Century church of St Mary standing proudly as the tallest in the village, complete with lovely carved choir stalls and even Medieval graffiti. For lovers of the great outdoors why not explore the Lodge Nature Reserve, with woodland, formal gardens and Nature Trails where you can discover woodpeckers and other wonders, or maybe The Riddy Nature Reserve will surely tempt, covering 19 acres with a small stream where Dragonflies hover and water voles swim. Perhaps a trip to an old Victorian Police Station and Court House will quench the thirst of the curious, St Neots Museum tells an interesting story from prehistoric times, where you can sit on a Victorian School bench, learn how the washing was done, or why not visit the actual Cells, but make sure you have the key. Or for the more adventurous a trip to Shepreth Wildlife Park offers a chance to see Big Cats, Monkeys and Prairie Dogs, why not become a keeper for the day, attend a Bug Party, meet Clive the hissing Cockroach or kiss a Wolfe!
