Sunningdale is a town just south of Windsor and very close to Ascot in the Royal County of Berkshire that over 4,900 people call home. The town has an interesting and busy high street and is perfectly placed for exploring the buffet of delights on offer, such as Chobham Common, where this historic open space forges links with our ancestors from the Stone Age. Hundreds of wildflowers sprawl and grow abundantly, with rare birds, frogs, toads, deer and beautiful dragonflies. Or perhaps a Military interlude is yearned for, the Household Cavalry Museum gives an insight of what it’s like behind the scenes, where the fascinating story unravels through exhibits of swords, helmets, and so much more, take a tour around the working stable block or admire Jackie Charlton’s football cap….. Or there is always the Berkshire Yeomanry Museum where their story is proudly on display. Perhaps a trip out to Royal Ascot Racecourse is more for you, where history, tradition and pageantry take centre stage, time it right and the Queen will also be there. Or for adventure seekers a visit to The Lookout Discovery Centre offers seventy interactive exhibits, where you can launch a hydrogen rocket, or climb through a giant Mole Hole, complete with Nature Trails through a fabulous forest………perfect.
