Lying in the heart of Cheshire in the North West of England on the Cheshire Plain the village of Wilmslow is around 10 miles from Manchester City Centre making this a popular location for the commuter with its rail and road access whilst Manchester International Airport is just 3 miles away. The town is able to trace its history back to the 14th century, no-one is certain how it acquires its name, some think that it is derived from the name of William de Bolyn being called Williams Lowe and that this became corrupted to what is today known as Wilmslow. More certain though is that Wilmslow lies in the valley between the Rivers Bollin and Dean and this unique location created a stagecoach stop here on the London to Manchester route. Today in the main street you are as likely to see a famous footballer as you are designer fashions in its many upmarket stores. The town centre has been described as vibrant, with its cafes, restaurants, bars and shopping facilities and they are not wrong. Yet nearby there is the tranquillity and beauty of the surrounding Cheshire countryside which is why many people find this such a popular location and enjoy visiting the area.
