The town of Frodsham is in the County of Cheshire and is very much a market town as it still holds regular street markets on a Thursday. Dating back to around Anglo Saxon Times the village of Frodsham lies at the confluence of the River Weaver and the River Mersey and was at one time an important port in the transportation of salt from nearby Nantwich. Today the village is conveniently situated close to the M56 linking North Wales to Manchester with easy access to the M6 and the rest of the country. It still retains much of its historical character, with sandstone buildings and whitewashed cottages whilst its village church, dating back to the 11th century, is to be found on the hill overlooking the village. Today the village of Frodsham offers a great number of amenities for both the resident and visitor alike, its local shops and weekday open air market whilst Delamere Forest is almost on the doorstep and provides a great location for those who enjoy a countryside stroll. Such is the popularity of Frodsham and the surrounding area that it has also featured in a few television programmes such as Merseybeat and Hollyoaks whilst Delamere Forest was used as a setting for the blockbuster film Robin Hood.
