Frankby is to be found towards the North of the Wirral Peninsula in the North West of England lying between the M53 and the Dee Estuary. Originally known as Frankeby which is believed to have been a corruption of Frankl’s village, it had a number of name changes, by 1346 it was Fraunkbi and then Fraunkeley before evolving into the name and spelling that it s known today. Frankby became the country retreat for the Victorian industrialists that made their wealth in Liverpool from shipping, warehousing and industry. Today the evidence of their wealth is still evident in some of the architecture and buildings that survive and are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, With easy access to Liverpool, Birkenhead and the Roman City of Chester these important economic centres provide not only employment but also offer a great opportunity for those who seek retail therapy, each providing a tremendous range of local and traditional shops and stores.. If however you wish to appreciate some stunning scenery then walkers and cyclists can enjoy some of the best country lanes to be found anywhere in the UK.
