Bollington is a small yet vibrant town on the banks of the River Dean in the county of Cheshire, and it is home to just over seven thousand people. Its rich industrial heritage can be found around the town and is a link with its milling past. When the Industrial Revolution arrived many Mills were constructed bringing employment and wealth to the town, rows of mill worker's cottages can be found and the engineering wonders of the Aqueducts built to bring water to the Mills can still be seen over Palmerston Street, and Grimshaw Lane. The Mills are finally quiet and visitors to the town today come because of the beautiful countryside with a network of footpaths nearby as it's positioned on the edge of the Peak District, closer to home is the chance to stroll along the towpath of the Macclesfield Canal which was built in 1831, and although it once saw commercial boats bringing in raw cotton to the mills, today sees pleasure craft move at a sedate pace. The choice of pubs, bars and restaurants will cater to most demands, there's a wide range of shops, and for those who are tempted to stay there is a pleasant choice of B&B's, hotels and cottages on offer.
