Scorrier is a village edged with a patchwork of green farmland in the county of Cornwall. The surrounding area has much to see, the hardest thing will be where to start, perhaps Carn Brae Castle precariously perched and surrounded by an Iron Age Hill Fort although is now a restaurant. Or there is always Truro Cathedral, standing on a site of previous churches the stunning architecture is worthy of anyone’s gaze with jewel coloured glass and impressive arches. The rich Mining history of Cornwall can be shared at the Cornish Industrial Discovery Centre, where Beam Engines are only a part of the intriguing story waiting to be told. Or put on a hard hat and travel 100’ into the depths of Poldark Mine, which dates back Centuries, walk the narrow passageways for a real insight into what Mining was really like. Or the Shire Horse Farm and Carriage Museum is sure to delight, with horse drawn vehicles, complete with wagon rides and Blacksmiths, or perhaps the thought of a tractor and trailer ride through orchards, a tour of the Distillery and underground cellars, complete with museum and of course a good tasting sounds good, then a visit to Callestock Cider Farm is a must.
