Porth is a seaside village on the north Cornish coast, whether it’s the surfing on Atlantic breakers at Porth beach which is backed by majestic cliffs, or at Lusty Glaze which is a vast expanse of sand and home to a leisure complex where many activities may be shared, the visit is worth it. Porth Island is linked to the mainland by a footbridge and was an Iron Age Settlement and a Bronze Age burial site, if you time it right, the dramatic ‘blow hole’ may shoot the sea water skywards, which is an impressive sight. Close by is Newquay Zoo home to 100’s of animals, and sub tropical lakeside gardens, or perhaps you fancy becoming a keeper for the day. If marine life is preferred then a trip to The Blue Reef Aquarium where friendly Rays swim in open tanks or a walk through tunnels where the underwater magic dazzles. If the great outdoors is desired then the beautiful ‘South West Coastal Path’ with it’s mining heritage and castles, and links with smuggling mysteries, won’t be beaten, as the path unfolds so does the beauty of this rugged coastline which captures the heart of every visitor again and again.
