An idyllic fishing village on the Rame Peninsular in South East Cornwall, once operated the largest Smuggling ring. Thankfully now with quiet secluded beaches, spectacular walks with breath stealing scenery. The ‘Coastal Path ’ which covers 800 acres takes you on a journey through historical villages and unashamedly beautiful scenery. Artists and photographers beware, Cawsand will steal your heart with the old cottages all colour washed, to the narrow winding streets and unspoilt surroundings. Cawsand bay sweeps around like a wave of an arm, it is an ideal place for swimming, windsurfing or dropping anchor, just like the 700 Spanish fleet of ships that paused here centuries ago and sickness forced them to leave. Or perhaps the pleasure of fishing tempts you, well besides fishing off the rocks, or Millbrook Creek, why not try Sea Angling for bass, Pollock and Mackerel. Bird watchers are also included in this treasure of a place where the Cormorants and Peregrines soar majestically. With an Iron Age Fort at Ramehead with it’s original armaments factory, to an 11th Century Monks Chapel, or even the delightful church of St Andrews all of which are worth a visit. Cawsand’s spell is left unbroken.
