A quite hamlet which forms part of St Anthony - in - Roseland, with miles of coastal footpaths, this secret unspoilt pocket of Cornwall lays adjacent to Porthbeor beach. A mile away is St Mawes Castle built in 1540 by Henry V111 as one of a pair of coastal fortresses to protect from invasion, the unusual clover leaf design is worth seeing. As is Pendennis Castle, built on the opposite headland to St Mawes, set high with panoramic views, between them their guns protected the entrance to the Estuary. St Anthony’s Lighthouse stands majestically blinking out to sea raising some 65’ built in 1835, although not open to the public this will not stop the enjoyment, With miles of dramatic coastal footpaths to be explored. Trelissick sits next to the River Fal with splendid gardens and wooded river side walks, planted with Cypress, Cedars together with Oaks and Conifers. The Art and Craft Gallery together with the gardens is definitely one to include for your visit. Bohortha on the Roseland Peninsular has intrigued artists and photographers for generations with it’s unashamed beauty, mystical wooded banks and ancient villages and beaches previously only dreamt of, now a blissful reality.
