Hollingbourne is a village close to Maidstone, the County Town of Kent, and is located 43 miles from London Charing Cross. The village straddles the North Downs on the Pilgrims Way. In upper Hollingbourne there is an Elizabethan Manor House, home to the Culpepper family during the 17th century. All Saints Church dates back to the early 14th century and within the church are many monuments to the Culpeper family. This long, winding village has many listed buildings, and a village pond. There are 3 pubs in the village, The Windmill, The King’s Head and The Dirty Habit. Upper Street, also called Hollingbourne Street, is where the church is, as well as the manor house, the King's Head Inn, Penn Court and The Old Forge. Half a mile lower down is Lower Street, usually known as Eyhorne Street as it’s where Eyhorne House is located. Eyhorne Street is lined with houses dating from the 16th century. The red-brick Georgian Eyhorne House is now privately owned but open to the public from time to time. The Culpeper family were once owners of nearby Leeds Castle which dates back to 1119. Hollingbourne railway station, in the centre of the village, is on the Maidstone-Ashford line into London Victoria.
