As the road climbs out of Colne towards Keighley towards the Pennine hills you will find the village of Laneshawbridge which at first sight seems to be simply a village in a picturesque location. This village nestling here in the hills and seemingly teetering on the border with Yorkshire has the benefit of a superbly commanding location on the hillside providing fabulous views combined with the convenience of easy access to the larger towns of Colne and Keighley. One of the Pendle villages it is the countryside that has an strong attraction for the visitor, the moorland covered in glorious colour brought on by the heather, rocky outcrops that seemingly defy time and the thousands of sheep roaming the countryside, on a fine sunny day there are few places you would rather be. The winter brings a different beauty, the clouds come thundering across the sky full of snow and before you know it the snow has fallen and is feet deep, after the fall those landmarks on this rugged countryside that were once familiar are now no longer visible. There is no denying that Laneshawbridge can offer its residents extremes of weather but that is the charm and beauty of the area and that is why many of the people who live here would not live anywhere else.
