Heysham is an old coastal village and fishing port positioned in the county of Lancashire, in the northern reaches of England and is home to just over six and a half thousand people. It overlooks Morecambe Bay and is a few miles from Lancaster. It has a rich history which dates back to the Stone Age, there is an abundance of charming 17th Century cottages and buildings close to the Village Square, and an ancient church perched on a cliff which is dedicated to St Peter, although it was built mostly in the 15th Century it has a Hogsback stone tomb linked to the Vikings. Nearby, visitors will find the ruins of St Patrick's Chapel and remnants of the stone graves that were gouged into the rocks during the eighth century. A walk around the village that's renowned for its Nettle Beer will uncover the historical Harbour where Ferries depart to the Isle of Man, and a small sandy beach. There's a choice of shops, a welcoming pub with log fires, cafes, and restaurants serving tasty Morecambe Bay Prawns. Walkers are readily tempted to explore the surrounding Lancashire countryside, and for those tempted to stay there is a choice of B&B's, hotels and a Caravan Park nearby.
