Pensford is a village seven miles from Bristol, and only 8 miles from Bath, dominated by the amazing viaduct built in 1873 which has ten arches, the River Chew and the Avon National Cycle Network is close by. With Bath and Bristol to explore there is so much to fit in, for prehistoric lovers there is Stanton Drew Circles and Cove, for outdoor lovers Lord’s Wood is south of the village, with a number of streams flowing through the wood and a large pond at the very heart of it, makes this a magical place. For animal lovers Bristol Zoo and Gardens has playful monkeys in the Monkey Jungle, or how about hundreds of butterflies at the Butterfly House at Berkeley Castle, or for Ducks, Geese and elegant Swans Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. For lovers of Maritime, Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s masterpiece is on show, which was the first iron ship driven by propeller, or perhaps the Maritime Heritage Centre, or take a cruise on a boat. For the daring take a Balloon flight, or keep your feet on the ground, and attend the Annual International Balloon Festival, when you have done all of this, why not visit Roman and Georgian Bath.
