Monkton Combe is a village in northern Somerset set in stunning countryside and is a perfect place for exploring, only a few miles from the Georgian city of Bath. Less than a mile away is Prior Park, the magical location designed by Pope and Capability Brown, where the lake mirrors the Palladian Bridge, Join the six mile circular walk and watch the scenery unfold with woodland, meadows, Roman Settlements and even an Iron Age Fort. Bath Abbey commands the skyline impressively, building started in 1499 although 3 different churches have stood on this spot over the last 12 and a half Centuries. For tired feet and a spoonful of history there is no better place than Sally Lunn’s Refreshment house, where 300 hundred years ago Sally served her ‘Sally Lunn Bunn’ that you can try today, inside the Museum her original kitchen is on display, the secrets of Medieval and Roman times are also here. With the choice of walking the countryside, canal walks, or why not take to the skies in a hot air balloon. So don’t forget your walking shoes, or cycle, definitely not your camera or paints and most importantly a return ticket when you visit Monkton Combe.
