Situated along the banks of the River Trent in a mainly rural part of Nottinghamshire, North Muskham is a pleasant village close to the Great North Road, about three and a half miles from Newark. The beautiful church of St Wilfrid is one of the charming features of North Muskham. It was built originally in the 11th century and added to in the 15th century, overlooking a sweeping bend in the River Trent. Another of its attractions is the North Muskham Lake Nature Reserve, which is managed by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. If you are a fan of Real Ale, then North Muskham is well worth a visit. CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) lists three pubs in North Muskham for you to visit including The Crown in Main Street. Additionally there is the Ferry Inn, a pleasant riverside pub serving food and drink. It also has 30 fishing pegs, pool, darts, indoor skittles and outdoor skittles. If this wasn't enough to make you visit, there is also a riverside beer garden, smoking shelter and boat moorings. Last but not least is the Muskham Inn, formerly the Lord Nelson Inn, which was built in the late 18th century. This has the reputation of being a very good restaurant and the small cosy bar is complete with Chesterfield sofas and a roaring log fire.
