Set on the edge of Sherwood Forest, this tranquil village lies in the borough of Bassetlaw, the northernmost borough in Nottinghamshire. It is set in a beautiful rural location, yet has good access to the major routes via the A1(M). This tiny village has a population of just over 250 and makes an ideal place to stay if you are looking for somewhere quiet whilst visiting Nottinghamshire. It is perfectly situated for exploring the Robin Hood Legend at nearby Sherwood Forest. It is also convenient for Doncaster, Rotherham, and Worksop and nearby Retford. If you don't mind the drive, vibrant Nottingham and historic York are both less than an hour away. If you are looking for food, drink, accommodation or all three, you should look no further than Ye Olde Bell Hotel, one of England's oldest coaching inns. The Hotel combines the old world charm of oak panelled rooms, log fires and leaded windows, whilst ensuring guests are treated to all the modern comforts that they expect. Barnby Moor is only two miles from the Wetlands Waterfowl Reserve. The reserve is 32 acres of tranquil lakes and woodland with an Exotic Bird Sanctuary and two large lakes which allow fishing. There are also many unusual animals to be seen.
