The picturesque village of Belleek is located on the banks of the River Erne, at the border with the Republic of Ireland. Despite its modest size, the village is world-famous for its fine Parian china, produced at the Belleek Pottery. More than 150 years old, the pottery is one of Ireland's top tourist attractions, with visitors flocking to watch the craftsmen at work and to snap up a souvenir candlestick or vase. Many stay for a while to enjoy the village, perhaps taking time out for a cuppa at the Thatch teashop, the only original thatched building in County Fermanagh. In its own right, Belleek is a great holiday destination, with wonderful opportunities for fishing, boating, horse-riding and golf. Walkers may follow trails through open countryside, riverside scenery, and forest and mountain hills, with inspiring views over seven counties and the Atlantic. Drivers, meanwhile, are ideally placed for exploring Fermanagh's glorious lakeland as well as the beautiful landscapes of County Donegal, across the border. For friendly fun, Belleek's pubs are hard to beat, and two popular events - the Traditional Music Festival and the Arts Festival - bring young and old together in annual celebrations of song and dance.
