Kingham is a village in Oxfordshire, situated in the Evenlode valley between Stow-on-the-Wold & Chipping Norton. The large green is surrounded by stone & thatched cottages, whilst the Norman church dedicated to Saint Andrew has a fine old rectory built in the 17th century. Kingham is unique amongst Cotswold villages as it is served by a main line railway station. In 2004 readers of "Country Life" magazine voted Kingham as ‘England's favourite village’. Kingham Hill School is just on the outskirts. It was founded by local Christian landowner, Charles Edward Baring Young in 1886 as a school and home for deprived boys. The school is an independent fee-paying public boarding school. Baring Young also founded Oak Hill Theological College in London. Kingham is home to the award-winning Daylesford Organic Farm Shop selling in-house produce of food, clothing and homeware, topped up with the finest luxuries from around the world. As much of it as possible is produced from scratch on site or at Wootton, the farm in Staffordshire. There is also a cafe and spa. Other nearby attractions include the Park House Toy Collectors Museum in Stow-on-the- Wold, housing one of the best private collections of toys on show in the country.
