Tresco is one of five inhabited Islands, off the coast of Cornwall, in the Isles Of Scilly, the Sub tropical climate bathes the Island where wild flowers thrive, wide open spaces, idyllic scenery, and beaches like Appletree Bay, that Film Directors only dream of, are enjoyed by the hundred and fifty or so Islanders who live here. Walkers will happily explore the diverse landscape enhanced by the absence of cars to spoil their adventure. Tresco Abbey Gardens is renowned for the colourful tapestry carefully woven with exotic plants from all over the globe, seventeen acres of bewitching planting around the 12th Century Ruins of St Nicholas Priory bask in the gentle climate, the southern terraces overlook St Mary's. There's also a chance to visit Valhalla Museum, which sees the evocative Figure Heads from shipwrecks that floundered nearby. For a link with the past Cromwell's Castle stands forever watchful, and replaced King Charle's Castle after the Civil War. Rewind the hands of time further with ancient burial sites such as Bants Carn overlooking Toll's Porth, or perhaps Bronze Age Innisidgen with views across Crow Sound will be favourite, or climb aboard one of the boat trips waiting to sail on an adventure to uninhabited Islands, what more could possibly be wished for.
